Ford Hockey School Development Camp
Mites and House Squirts
July 6–10 | Fifth Third Arena
This five-day camp is built specifically for younger players, focusing on skill development, confidence, and a love for the game. Using Ford Hockey School’s train with purpose approach, each day balances structure with fun while helping players learn the game in an engaging, age-appropriate environment.
The camp is held at the Chicago Blackhawks’ official training facility.
Daily Structure
Drop-off: Begins at 9:00 AM
Please drop players off fully dressed
Hockey IQ Video | 9:15–9:45 AM
Each day starts with a short, engaging Hockey IQ video session. We introduce basic concepts in a simple, visual way to help players understand the game and prepare mentally for the ice.
Getting Ready for Ice | 9:45–10:00 AM
Coaches are on the floor to help players get skates on and ready. This supported transition keeps things calm, organized, and stress-free.
On-Ice Session | 10:00–12:40 PM
Players spend nearly three hours on the ice, broken into purposeful segments to keep energy high and attention strong.
First portion: Technique and skill development using circuits to keep players engaged. Focus areas include edge work, puck control, balance, and basic decision-making.
Second portion: Small-area games that encourage creativity, awareness, and confidence while making the game fun and competitive.
Lunch & Undressing | 12:40–1:10 PM
Players fully undress and eat lunch before transitioning to the afternoon sessions.
Off-Ice Training + Hockey IQ | 1:10–1:55 PM
Players split into two groups:
One group completes off-ice training focused on functional movement, coordination, and athletic development, including team games like soccer and handball that translate to on-ice success.
The other group participates in a Hockey IQ video session, reinforcing concepts introduced earlier in the day.
Off-Ice Training + Hockey IQ | 1:55–2:40 PM
Groups rotate so every player completes both the off-ice session and the video session each day.
Wrap-Up & Pick-Up
Players finish at 2:40 PM. Pick-up is at 3:00 PM.
January Registration Bonus
Players who register during the month of January receive a free Ford Hockey School skull hoodie featuring the FHS skull logo and Play With an Edge branding.
