Who are the Grinders?

a community of adults that come together weekly with shared values with desire to improve, sweat, and a love for the game of hockey. we run three skates a week at Johnnys in the city.  This isn’t learn to skate.  Or hockey 101.   But we have guys from every level of beer league.  We run an hour skate.  there is a theme every week like deception or puck protection.  We hammer down the technique. Get into some applications of said theme and then finish with a relevant small area game.  We have 1-2 coaches pending the class size.  We average about 12 skaters and max out around 15-16 with 2 goalies.

If you are interested I can put you on our weekly distribution list.  Reply to that weekend email with which day you plan on coming out.  I have guys coming out to multiple a week sometimes.  Feel free to text or call me to with more questions.  Fordo.

Grinder Testimonial

'“3 years ago I was a baby giraffe on skates. Now, I skate with former and current pro hockey players and I don’t embarrass myself (mostly) and even contribute. Ford Hockey School literally taught me everything I know about hockey, and it has been enough to play at a relatively high level considering my age and time playing. Ford Hockey School’s approach is about mastery of the basics, something which resonates with me being a combat vet and a fireman in the city now.

Elite performers in all physical activities master the basics. Nothing shown is rocket surgery but every player from baby giraffe to NHL bound does the exact same drills. Show up. Listen to the coaches. Do what the coaches tell you to do. You will get better. That’s the hockey … But there’s so much more.

FHS is a community of good people pushing each other to be better. I’m 39 and haven’t been in this good of shape since my early 20’s. In the last 3 years I lost 40 lbs, my fitness/work capacity has sky rocketed, have had plenty of laughs, and even made some friends along the way.”
